While I have no issue with bosses and sub-bosses having large health pools, many of the ordinary enemies take many hits to kill - Projectiles are often lobbed off screen as you walk forward resulting in many cheap hits. These areas usually take place in an already hectic situation adding to the frustration - Many of the enemies take too many hits to defeat. Pocky & Rocky 2 is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Natsume in Japan and North America, and published in PAL regions by Ocean Software for the Super NES video game console. Pocky & Little Ninja: You can open a locked treasure chest without the key. Attributes, Downloadable, Remastered, Re-recorded, Video Game Soundtrack. Game uses lots of vibrant colors and it overall looks great + Music is quite catchy and sticks in your head + Controls are excellent, while it may not look like a shmup it plays like one, and precise controls is necessary in this type of game and it nails it + Large variety of enemies, all with unique animations Cons: - Sections of the game have respawning enemies. Pocky & Rocky: You will be able to find hidden treasures. Pros: + Beautiful sprites, with excellent animations. So while I do overall like this game, the problems keep it at a good game instead of a great one, but the potential was definitely there to be a great game. Pocky & Rocky (Japanese:, Kiki Kaikai, 'Strange and Mysterious World') is a series of run-and-gun video games originally created by Taito. There were times, (especially on level 4), where I almost quit out of sheer frustration, and that is something I don't often feel when playing games of this era (SNES). That really is a shame because there is so much to love about the game, it's beautiful, has great music, and plays very well, but the game does have issues with the respawning enemies in certain areas, projectiles that are lobbed at you from off screen, and many enemies just take too long to defeat. This is a game I want to like more than I can, because while I have no problem with difficult games, Pocky and Rocky often feels cheap with it's difficulty, especially by the 4th stage on. 70% Super NintendoAt a glance, Pocky and Rocky looks like a Zelda-like game, it has a top down perspective, landscapes to traverse, and two adorable characters to choose from, but what lies underneath is a very difficult shoot-em-up.
